Warranty guide: what each brand actually covers

Warranty length is one of the most honest signals of how much a manufacturer trusts its own chair's durability. Premium ergonomic chairs commonly carry 10-15 year warranties (Herman Miller and Humanscale, for example), while budget-friendly or gaming-oriented brands typically offer 3-5 years.

A long warranty usually covers more than obvious breakage: foam or mesh sagging beyond reasonable wear, recline mechanism or gas-lift failures, and structural frame cracks. What it almost never covers is normal cosmetic wear of the upholstery from daily use.

Before buying, also check whether the warranty transfers if you buy secondhand, and whether the manufacturer has service or a distributor in your country — a 12-year warranty is worth little if there's no one locally to claim it from.
